6 things to do with the kids in The Yorkshire Wolds


The low hills of The Yorkshire Wolds are home to interesting wildlife, bustling market towns and stunning scenic views. This beautiful landscape can be found in the East Riding of Yorkshire and North Yorkshire, and is the perfect place to reconnect with nature. 

But what about keeping the kids entertained? Don’t worry, there are plenty of activities to keep children happy, from tots to teenagers.


Yorkshire Wolds Way

If you enjoy walking as a family, why not tackle the Yorkshire Wolds Way? The full trail from Filey to Hessle takes around a week to complete, but there are six trails to choose from for a fun day out in the fresh air. Enjoy the view along the way, which includes tranquil countryside, the Humber Estuary and beautiful rolling hills.

William’s Den

Little explorers will love this adventure attraction in North Cave. Outside there’s sand and water play, den making, a tyre swing, zip wire and mud kitchen. Inside there’s an amazing 475 sqm play barn. With regular events including den building challenges, discos and sports days, children will never want to leave!

Playdale Farm Park

Outdoor play. Indoor play. Farm animals. Tractors. Frisbee golf. Go karting. Soft play. Straw bales. Adventure slides...There’s an endless list of activities to entertain the kids at this attraction near Scarborough. There’s a wide range of animals for you to see and feed including sheep, pigs and rabbits. You can even handle chicks and guinea pigs.

South Cave Falconry

Based at Rudstone Walk Farm, this purpose-built centre is the perfect place to see owls and other birds of prey in action. You can watch the regular training sessions and flying displays and also meet some farm animals, too. You can also purchase special experiences where you can find out more about falconry as a hobby, whilst learning how to handle the birds and prepare their food. 

Sledmere House

Sledmere House is in Driffield, and widely regarded as East Yorkshire’s finest country house. You can explore the historic stables and meet lots of animals at the Sledmere Farm Park (including shire horses and Peggy and Peppa, the resident sows). There’s a Spotty Pig Adventure Playground too, with equipment for kids of all ages including a zip wire, tree house and scramble nets.
